We are working with clinicians and Key Opinion Leaders in Oxford and Birmingham to develop and deliver easy-to-use diagnostic devices that will transform the cost, speed and deployability of In Vitro Diagnostics to meet critical unmet needs. We are also working with the UK National Physical laboratory on novel methods of calibration. We are always on the look-out for creative, driven and enthusiastic people to join the team. In particular, Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) offers enhanced sensitivity compared to ‘traditional’ Raman Spectroscopy, and moreover, the opportunity to ‘tune’ the test to be more sensitive to specific diseases. We believe this will enable target diseases to be rapidly diagnosed from urine at low cost, displacing blood or other tests (cystoscopy, imaging) as a first diagnostic. We focus on enabling testing at the Point-of-Need, although the test could be ‘read’ either locally at a clinic, or in a Central Laboratory. We focus on how to extend the viable test life of urine samples to enable extended periods between the sample being obtained and the test sample ‘read’. We focus on the whole workflow and are already discussing how we will integrate with widely used middleware solutions to disseminate the data.
